The Great American Truck Show opens at the end of this month.
Are you thinking about going?
Here are three reasons you should go:
-
Business Development
If you’re an owner-operator, you need to hear what the experts are saying to help you stay current and profitable in this business environment. Overdrive is sponsoring a number of workshops for owner-operators to improve their businesses. That’s worth the trip to GATS by itself, but you’ll also have a chance to take a look at Universal’s options for new drivers.
2. Meet Ups
Trucking is undoubtedly one of the loneliest jobs out there. No matter how many stops you make on a route or how many good buddies you have on the CB, it’s important to build relationships in person. Spending time with others helps you keep friendships, build new ones, and hear a few new good stories over drinks at the One20 Beer Garden. Truckers are the friendliest, best people in the world. Get to know some new friends this year.
3. Personal Development (or Undevelopment, as the case may be)
Maybe because the mirrors we look in the most are reflecting the road and maybe our arms and faces, but it’s a fact that we need to be paying attention to our whole bodies. LandStar’s Health and Fitness Pavillion is sponsoring a 5K race for those of you in shape for that kind of run, but also showing off some vendors who can help you get into shape for next year’s race. Sometimes our “bottom line” needs some adjusting – this looks like a place to start.
GATS looks to be like a great place to be on August 25-27, 2016. It’s also free if you register now. You don’t want to get caught in the traffic waiting just to pay money, do you? Me either. Enjoy yourself at GATS this year!
