People who are willing to tell you their stories and who can give you solid advice from experience, not just sales pitches, to help you decide what you want to do. Of course, we’re very pro-trucking, so we want you to be a trucker. But

Newbie Truckers Should Go Too

Getting started in the trucking industry has a lot of steps before you turn the key in your cab.

What kind of trucking do you want to do? Long distance? Regional? Oversized loads?

What do you want to haul? Hazardous waste? Liquids? Food? Frozen goods? Dry goods?

Once you know those things, then you’ve narrowed what you need to learn:

What equipment do you need?
What licenses and insurance coverage does that field require?
How do you finance these dreams?
How do you pay off these debts?

New truckers, even those who are strictly driving for a trucking company, have a steep learning curve. Going to a trucking show like the Florida Trucking Show will have the opportunities to hear speakers and speak to vendors to identify what they need and how much investment they’ll make to build a successful trucking business. (You’ll need some trucking software too. And an ELD. We do that.)

At a conference with over 150 vendors, you gotta think that there will be plenty of trucking swag. But it’s not just about the swag. Vendors will be there so the opportunity to look at products, put your hands on them, and make an informed decision about investing in equipment and/or services. You might find an accountant who understands the ins and outs of trucking taxes that you would never otherwise find.
